Portrait of Alex Idowu

Hi. If you care how Kubernetes actually works - operators, shims, CSI, agents, multi-tenant isolation, sandboxes, self-hosted gateways - pull up a chair. Field notes from production.

Work

I'm Co-founder & CTO at PipeOps (PipeOpsHQ), a cloud deployment platform that abstracts DevOps complexity so teams can go from code to cloud in minutes. We focus on multi-cloud provisioning, Kubernetes-based runtime, and making platform engineering usable for startups and engineers who shouldn't need a full DevOps team. Part of that surface is the PipeOps Kubernetes Agent - BYOS install that turns a VM into a managed deploy target over an outbound tunnel.

Before PipeOps I held senior and lead roles: Founding Member & Head of Security & SRE at Flux (fintech, 2020-2022), Engineering Manager at Mkobo (2020-2021), Head of Engineering at Deepview, Technical Team Lead & DevOps at Demz Analytics, and Senior Software Engineer / DevOps at OnePipe. Full catalogue on Work.

I'm also building Aeon - security software for high-trust organizations across cloud, on-prem, and hybrid environments.

I've been working in technology since 2012, with a decade-plus focus on:

  • Cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation)
  • Container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker, K3s, BuildKit)
  • Runtime isolation (gVisor, Firecracker microVMs, multi-tenant control planes)
  • CI/CD pipelines, platform engineering, and BYOS agents
  • Systems and tooling in Go, Python, TypeScript, and Zig

Off the clock

When I'm not in production logs, I'm usually somewhere in the Grand Line. One Piece is comfort food. It has nothing to do with multi-tenant isolation. Or everything, if you squint.
